Getting to know your subconscious mind in time for this month's Lunar Eclipse on the 27th.
Most of what happens in your life happens because of your subconscious mind which is like the part of the iceberg that's underwater.
It's a very good idea today to get clear about exactly what your preferences are in life. Do not concern yourself, dear friend, with how to get there from here. Just imagine your Fairy Godmother came up to you and asked you, "What do you really want right now?"
Make your answer positive and specific. I would like to have graduated successfully from business school and obtained a permanent position at a global bank in New York City.
The reason is this. With the two eclipses coming up in October, you may need to make some quick decisions. In some cases, it may even be shockingly quick, as in -- a tidal wave is coming JUMP !!!!!!!!!!!
OK, but where ... up in the air, to the right, to the left ????
When we have a crisis, we revert to our animal brain, our instincts -- the thing that tells the snake whether you will eat it or it will eat you. It is the subconscious mind associated with this part of the brain that rules in a crisis ... because it's connected with survival instincts. Your subconscious mind, according to a logic of its own (actually prior instructions from you) will make the choice, left, right or straight up ... in a split second as if your life depended on it.
Surely you've noticed that some people have good survival instincts and some don't.
Let's run through the scene another way. You're sound asleep. I bang on your door in the middle of the night and say HIDE. Your subconscious mind decides whether it will be out of the bed and under it, out the window or straight over my head, out the door and up to the attic.
So we want to give our subconscius mind a good default mode set of instructions right now while we're compos mentis. What we are doing is this. We are saying to our subconscious mind: "If I become distracted by fear, irrational with panic, paralyzed with hysteria :-) whatever ... this is where I want to go, so move be in that direction.
In a crisis there is always a whole lot of energy and it is unpleasant but also it is actually easier to make a huge change than a small course correction. Let's say it's like an explosion that will blast you somewhere, wherever your subconscious mind chooses. Again, we want your subconscius mind to have a very clear picture of where you would LIKE to find yourself when the dust settles. Who knows, if it's a genuine crisis, you may get halfway there without even trying.
This symbolic language can be hard for some to understand, so let me give you a concrete example.
A client wrote me that she lived in NY and had wanted to move back to the small town she grew up in but was dragging her feet. "It took the crisis of 911 to get me out of there," she said, laughing (?)
Now the situation is reversed. She is trying to get out of the small town and is dragging her feet. I gave her some suggestions which she scoffed at. "It'll probably take some crisis like 911 to finally get me out of here," she said casually.
If she only knew what kind of marching orders she just handed her subconscious mind. I pleaded with her. "Your subconscious mind doesn't know how to take a joke. Do you really want to go through a crisis like 911 again?"
She thought I had an axe to grind.
The powers of the subconscious mind are more greatly to be feared and respected than the Marianna Trench. A better way for this woman to say the same thing is, "Subconscious mind ... I instruct you to find a safe and appropriate way for me out of this situation that is for the good of all concerned."
If you will learn more about this, read The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy. There are many books on this topic. Murphy's is short, easy to read and an invaluable aid in learning how to program your subconscious mind successfully.
