Nurturing a Lifestyle of Health During the Holidays
I found this statement at the health club for the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco where I'll be staying next week. I join with these thoughts and will provide helpful tips here throughout the holiday season.
"As we approach Thanksgiving and welcome the holiday season, we face challenges unique to this time of year. Not only are we continuing to go about our regular work and family lives, but we're also trying to fit in all of the other "to-dos" that make this time of year so special. Shopping for gifts. Baking treats. Volunteering to help those in need. ... Traveling to visit friends and family. Attending office parties. Cooking celebratory meals.
"We're getting less sleep, fighting crowds, over-scheduling our days, and suffering from jet lag. We're more tired, more stressed, and more likely to abandon our health routine when time is at such a premium.
"This month, we present inspiring ideas to help you maintain a lifestyle of health throughout the holidays. There's no reason that enthusiastically embracing the holidays and staying fit should be mutually exclusive concepts.
"Why not resolve now, instead of waiting for January 1, to stay healthy and fit year-round?
"Here's to a joyful and balanced start to the holiday season. "
Tip #1`... plan on doing about half as many things as you'd really like to. You'll be glad you did when you get on the scale at the end of the holidays! If you're an introvert, begin your education campaign now ... "I'd love to but I'm an introvert and we get exhausted quickly, so I'll just drop by for a few minutes." Everytime you say that to someone with no apologies, you're raising consciousness and helping another introvert.
If you would like to share your holiday experiences for other introverts, please email me your article and I will publish it on my website.
