Dead at 59. Such a shock. Robin Cook former UK foreign miniter who resigned over the war in Iraq considered by some to be the greatest Parliamentarian alive today.
Mr. Cook was out walking with his wife (shown to the right) when he collapsed.
Here is an individual who died at the very brink of his second Saturn Return. To learn more about this important rite of passage, visit www.bemyastrologer.com
Poor Mr. Cook, to die so young.
The Presbyterian Church U.S.A. announced Friday that it would press four American corporations to stop providing military equipment and technology to Israel for use in the occupation of the Palestinian territories, and that if the companies did not comply, the church would take a vote to divest its stock in them.
The companies - Caterpillar, Motorola, ITT Industries and United Technologies - were selected from a list of several dozen possibilities by a church investment committee that met Friday in Seattle. The Presbyterians accused these companies of selling helicopters, cellphones, night vision equipment and other items Israel uses to enforce its occupation.
... almost makes me want to join a Presbyterian Church.
I would like to know if any other INTPs notice a considerably slower thinking process, albeit moderately more thorough?
-- Alex, age 16
In today's email a response from an INTP ...
I would like to know if any other INTPs notice a considerably slower thinking process, albeit moderately more thorough?
This is a question that i have been musing over myself for quite a while now. i think a suitable analogy can be found in simple physics. i cant find the perfect equation on the internet at the moment ( been searching for all of 2 minutes, perfect example of us "intps" loosing patience.) but basically put, it takes quite a while for something very heavy (our intellect) to gather momentum or speed. think of it as a massive locomotive, it takes a while to get moving but after a while it can develop massive pace.
i suppose the downside is that it takes a lot to stop a runaway train (keep that in mind!). if you havent noticed i am an intp border line intj aged 22 years living in sheffield, great britain.
i loved your little article [Alex's entire comments can be found HERE], very succinct and to the point, feel i could have written it myself. it touched me. with regards to my age i can safely claim that i have a little more experience in life than yourself without sounding condescending. as such i would like to give you a few pointers which i feel you may find helpful.
people need people, humanity are pack animals, individually you and i are wolves but even wolves need association from time to time or there would not be any wolves. in the adult world association has to be sought unlike at a school institution where people are seemingly forced on you. adulthood can be very lonely for us types.
learn social skills now even if it is through books, we love psychology so learn it in a cold book fashion if needs be but please do it and prepare.
2. the mind is not fully formed until mid 20's it is a sight to behold, you will be able to chew the fat for hours on end in a few years and all i can say is that it is great.
3. our type are naturally depressives and excessive solitude can/will make your depressive state greater until it is clinically expressed, when fully expressed depression fully locks the mind which aint good for the agile intp mind so try to avoid depression if you can; mind lock and cognitive dulling is our antitheses, read up on it.
please let me know when you have received this email. it would be great to correspond for a while if you like. hope you found this some help.
all the best
yours

Hi,
After 39 years of confusion and a real seeing, now the real stuff is HERE, FINALLY!!!!!!!
I have spent my entire life trying to be everybody else because I didn't KNOW. I found out last year through a placement agency after being fired from my job again for reasons that were peculiar that I was aINFP. It BLEW ME AWAY.
Today I have had a miserable experience. My live-in lover is AWAY. By the way we did a test for her and she is an ENFP. I am in heaven just being BY MYSELF. I am NOT ANSWERING MY CELL PHONE!!! AND I CAME ACROSS YOUR WEBSITE!!!!I
have spent ten years with a Buddhist group that encouraged members to fight and BE OUT THERE. AND, it didn't HELP. WHY WOULD IT? The whole point of the group was to chant to win.
Well, I chanted and FAILED. Religion is the opiate of the people. Marx was RIGHT. I WOULD LOVE THE FIRST CHAPTER OF YOUR BOOK. I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO WIN IN MY LIFE. AND, boy, the degree of confusion that I have had is just blowing me AWAY!!!!
BLESS YOU,
EM

Why are the Muslims so ... radical ??
Well, aside from the fact that the British stirred up religion to get the Arabs to fight in World War II and afterwards to provide a natural buffer to Communissm, Muslim is the world's newest religion, of the major religions.
The Muslim religion is 1395 years old,
Christianity was founded in 0 CE, Judaism well before that, also Buddhism and Hinduism. The Muslim religion, founded in 610 CE [date varies slightly] is the new kid on the block. Religions mature just like wine and people.
What was happening in the Christian religion (in "Christendom") when Christianity was 1395 years old? That's how old the Muslim religion is, 1395 years old.
Here's an interesting timeline gleaned from pbs that leads up to the 1395 CE timeframe so you can get a sense of developing trends.
ALBERTUS MAGNUS (1206-1280)
[The teacher of Thomas Aquinas. In the tradition of Pythagoras, emphasized the essential unity of science and mysticism.]
THOMAS AQUINAS, Saint (1224-1275)
[Dominican monk and the greatest Catholic theologian and philosopher. Late in life, he had a mystical experience which caused him to question his scholastic past. Works: Summa Theologica, De Anima, others.]
ECKHART, MEISTER (1260-1327/8)
[Dominican monk. One of the most important early German speculative mystics and the first of the so-called "Rhineland" mystics. His Sermons were in German, the academic works in Latin. Works: Sermons, Parisian Questions and Prologues. Selections in English are available. Influenced by Pseudo-Dionysius.]
The Italian poet Dante Alighieri begins The Divine Comedy, a complex poem of an imaginary journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise, in 1307.
King Philip the Fair of France orders that Pope Boniface VIII be forced to stand trial over the issue of papal supremacy. Boniface is seized and taken to Rome, where he dies humiliated just weeks later.
The Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, a military order established in 1113, purchases the island of Rhodes in 1306. The order remains there until 1522.
Jews are expelled from France and England in 1306.
Philip the Fair of France seizes the phenomenal wealth of the Knights Templar, justifying his actions with falsified charges against the military order.
The Babylonian Captivity that witnesses the transfer of the papal seat from Rome to Avignon, France, begins in 1309 when anarchy seizes Rome and many in the city turn against Pope Clement V. The papacy remains in Avignon until 1377.
Under pressure from Philip the Fair, Jacques de Molay, the Grand Master of France's Knights Templar, is charged with heresy. He is convicted and burned at the stake in 1314.
Pope John XXII canonizes the famous Dominican theologian Thomas Aquinas in 1323.
In 1338, the Diet of Frankfort issues Licet juris, which decrees that the Holy Roman Emperor may be chosen without papal participation.
The Dialogues of William of Occam lays the foundation for modern theories on separation of church and state.
1348 Bubonic Plague
In 1378, the Great Schism begins in the western Church as two men, Popes Urban VI and Clement VII, create competing papacies in Rome and Avignon, respectively. It will last until 1417.
The Babylonian Captivity ends in 1377 when Pope Gregory XI returns the papacy to Rome.
As Spaniards seek to find the blame for the Black Death, many turn against the country's Jews. Seville and Barcelona experience pogroms in 1391. Many Spanish Jews convert to Christianity in the next few years.
In 1409, in an attempt to end the Great Schism, the Council of Pisa deposes both popes (Gregory XII in Rome and Benedict XII in Avignon) and elects Peter Philarges, who will reign as Alexander V.
The Great Schism that began in 1378 ends in 1417 when the Council of Constance deposes the three rival popes and elects as pope Otto Colonna, who will reign as Martin V.
Thomas à Kempis writes his Imitation of Christ, which, with the exception of the Bible, will be the most widely read book in Europe for the next 100 years.
On May 30, 1431, Joan of Arc is burned at the stake in the Old Market Square in Rouen after being found guilty of treason against God.
By 1441, African slaves are sold in the markets of Lisbon, Portugal. A trade is established that will, in the next five centuries, transport millions of African slaves to Europe and the Americas.
LUTHER, MARTIN (1483-1546)
[A well-known antipathy to mystics, but a foundation for mystical life in his theology of the heart, particularly in his early thought. Influences: Augustine, Theologica Germanica.
TERESA of AVILA (1515-1582)
[Spanish Carmelite nun. Formed the Discalced (Barefoot) Carmelites, with St. John of the Cross. Is very important for describing the stages of the mystical journey. Influenced by Augustine. Works: Life, by Herself; The Way of Perfection; The Interior Castle.]

She says, "When we feel the urge to stabilize, we often mistake that for keeping things the same. We can think that what is most familiar is what is best." To paraphrase the rest briefly, there is a tendency to hang on to what we have which results in living in the past.... We may hang on to a job we hate, a toxic relationship or have nightmares about what will happen if we step outside this comfort zone.
It absolutely boggles my mind to imagine Mars in Taurus including a retrograde in October which means it will be in Taurus all the way until February 17, FOUR TIMES longer than it normally spends in one sign. Taurus is the slowest, most conservative sign there is and now it will be strung out like the way your fingers fuse when you get the super glue on them.
Be sure to read Terry's article on how to use this energy constructively. The most unconscious use would be to dig yourself in even further into an untenable situation which you will still have to get out of only it will cost you more.
I like to remember the story of the Sybil at this point. Remember she offered the Romans the books about their future for nothing at first but they ridiculed her. Eventually they paid quite handsomely. But we all knew this would happen!

infp FLASH!
Let's see what the infp's think of this. I have had a bee invasion for many years now. As most of you know, I live somewhat out in the country in some rough land with rattlers, all type of scrubby brush and other critters, plus a migrating tribe of bees which may or may not morph into killers one of these days. I wonder if I have to disclose that when I sell the house, hmmmm? These are all the blessings of living near the Mexican border.
Anyway, some years they win, some years I win. Actually, I lose every year because I pay over $2500 to get them removed ... each time.
They have built up again into quite a nuisance this year and this very morning I awoke to find them swarming all over the kitchen ceiling and on light bulb surfaces in the living room. So now the war is really on except that I don't have the $2500 this week. Oh joy.
So this is where I find being an infp so very helpful. We ignore the entire manifest physical world all the time anyway, so I will be able to ignore this by discipline. I will keep my windows closed while they are swarming and pretend it isn't happening until I get it moved up on the priority list. After all, it doesn't happen every single day. It certainly gives you an idea of the ratio between sperm and eggs, though. One lousy little queen puts me through the spastic death of thousands of these little critters every month.
Do you ever use your infp this way? I swear to you, I can ignore and have ignored by discipline some really huge unpleasant things in my physical surroundings through the years because there wasn't anything I could do about them for the time being. I think this would drive an extrovert nuts.
Why do I hate the bees? I get stung all the time and that's annoying. It could even be fatal except that I am not anaphalactic. Their honey will eventually cave in the kitchen wall. They speck up the walls and I hate, truly truly hate the buzzing sound. Aren't most info's extremely sensitive to sound?
I do love the German word for bee buzz though ... bumble as in summt. Properly pronounced in German, it sounds like a buzzing bee.
Ja hier summt das Bienenvolk. Und das geht mir nicht gut.
Get ready for the sheer magic on August. I'll be in Santa Fe, New Mexico right before the full moon.
From those wonderful guys at Star IQ, some of the most magical of these moments:
New Moon, August 4: Retrograde Mercury and an opposition from Neptune make this an especially imaginative Leo New Moon. A flood of fresh ideas and creative insights carry thoughts far beyond the bounds of reason. Bringing them down to
August 12, Moon conjunct South Moon Node: Jupiter on the Moon's South Node in Libra magnifies the weakness of this sign: excessive concern with what others think. The North Node in Aries reminds us that actions not only speak louder, but are more important than words (for now), and that each of us should blaze a unique trail that needn't be justified to others. Sometimes we must quiet the need for pretty and polite to overcome the inertia of indecision.
Mercury goes direct, August 15: The communication planet turns direct in the tough neighborhood of a Mars-Saturn square. Positions may harden, leading to confrontation in the days ahead. Don't confuse certainty with certain truth. The former is a feeling, the latter is an ideal, not a reality. A sense of humor about ourselves provides needed humility at times like this.
Jupiter trine Neptune, August 17: This is the third of a series of aspects that began last November. It's an opening of the spirit, a harmonious duet between religion and spirituality, hopes and dreams, belief and faith. These giant planets hum deeply in the background as long waves of joyous wisdom balancing the jangled noise of daily doubt and confusion. [These guys do the best job of writing out planetary energies!]
Pluto goes direct, September 1: The direct turn of the Lord of the Underworld can bring long-held secrets into the light, a slow process that is likely to pick up speed in the weeks to come.

Here's a book I'm buying for sure, In Other Words. As my sister describes them, I feel this is a perfect book for inflight or inairport reading ... or for the hammock under the tree this summer because if you fall asleep you can easily pick up where you left off!
Body Language ...Body language is another of those right brain languages that we can learn to improve our intuition. This young woman works for Hooters, an establishment which makes a point of eye candy and the illusion of easy women.
But take another look. Could her body possibly be more closed off? Both arms and legs are crossed and arms are crossed over the crucial area.
Now look at the young woman sitting in the backseat of the car.
Arms and legs wide open, arm draped askance across leg. This woman is a much easier approach. Now combine this with your own knowledge of facial expressions. The Hooters lady's face says "yes but no". The lady to the left is actually exhibiting classic signs of female "aggression", meaning "come get me".To learn more about body language from an intuitive place, I have a series of articles you can browse HERE. These pages are especially good for picking up dating cues.
