Dear Mrs. Garrett,

I just wanted to write you this short note to express my sympathy over the very sad news about Ray.

Luckily for me, I got to know Ray shortly after he became SEC chairman and then worked with him on various projects in the years since. He was so great in so many ways -- one of the few men who came to Washington and brought along his sense of humor and great ability to relate to the people he was regulating and advising. He had a difficult job in a time of great change for Wall Street. Even those who completely disagreed with many of the changes effecting the investment banking industry liked and respected Ray. Above all, he was, purely and simply, a delight to be with.

Like a great many people, my life is much the better for having known Ray.

Sincerely,

Logan Burke
