Robert
E. Dineen
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
March 6, 1980
Dear Mrs. Garrett:
It only seems like yesterday when Ray and you were in
Milwaukee and we were trying to interest him in becoming
an executive of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance
Company. We were very anxious to have him come with
us because he had the kind of qualities we looked for
in good men. But, as I look back, I think he made the
right decision. Ray loved the law and was cut out to
be a lawyer. I am sure he would have developed into
a first-class executive, but he would have been in the
wrong field considering his talents.
Mrs. Dineen and I were genuinely sorry to learn of his
passing. It is always bad when death takes good people
like him. We have very happy memories of him, and we
wanted you to know that you and the members of your
family have our deepest sympathy.
I would have written you earlier, but Mrs. Dineen and
I were in Florida and did not learn of his death unwil
we returned to Milwaukee.
Sincerely,
Bob Dineen
[NOTE:
RAY GARRETT WAS RECRUITED BY NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL LIFE
INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE LATE 60S.]
