ISFJs PROTECTOR GUARDIANS, according to Keirsey (www.keirsey.com), are dedicated to keeping those they love and guard "safe", meaning safe from the pitfalls in life. They give modestly and cheerfully of all they have and can deal more easily than the other types with helplessness, homelessness and despair in others.

PROTECTOR GUARDIANS do well with hard work and routines. They are often to be found working in hospitals, social service agencies and other places where their committment and love of routine are helpful.

In earlier classifications they would be members of the GUARDIAN group, called EPIMETHEAN and Melancholic.

Also see TypeLogic. Where Keirsey and TypeLogic differ in assigning famous people to categories. I have used my own intuition.

9.21.2005 I have known since my 20's that I was an ISFJ, thanks to a book a friend recommended.  How freeing to know that I am an introvert by God's design, and I can be the way I am - with a little explanation for people who don't understand, of course.  I do have this strong desire to help people - but behind the scenes.  Don't put me up front!

3.2.2005 "I feel like I am 'coming out'. I sat down and told one of my friends today 'I am an introvert. I need some space today. There is nothing wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with me. I love you very much. Shall we do lunch tomorrow instead? By the way - have a look at this great site. Have a hug?' :-)

Then I had a wonderful walk in the spring sunshine in my lunch hour and felt my cares lift away. Still reading stuff on your site. I loved the testimonials and survey responses. I am a ISFJ introvert (Protector). I score 9 for I, 5 for S, 6 for F, and 9 for J."

I am particularly protective of vulnerable people, eg. homeless, people with addictions etc.

I am no Mother Theresa, but I can understand how she could get so much satisfaction from helping others while sacrificing her own comfort.

I feel very misunderstood.  Most people seem to think that I am aloof, but I care very deeply and usually assume the best of people.
