Harvey Pitt served under Ray Garrett as his Executive Assistant and on the staff of the Commission from 1968 to 1978, the last three years of which he was the Commission's General Counsel. Harvey Pitt was appointed chairman of the SEC on August 3, 2001 and resigned November 5, 2002.
