Eye-Lock Electronic Door Lock Room Guard
8 to 12 years old

The eyelock roomguard is the best toy I ever bought it actually works and the password is easy to remeber no one can see the password at all because it is so covered up.This is the best product from radica toys yet

Now my brothers stay out of my room and when I go over to my friends house I come back and no one came in. Or when I am dressing they don't barge in! When I have friends over I don't have to stay in front of the door yelling "MOM!" I love this toy. And it has the perfect color to match my room colors! And GirlTech has good products!

This is the best chess game I've ever played in my life! You need to make more things like this! Harry Potter rules my life!

I have a 27 year old handicapped daughter who is absolutely IN LOVE with this toy! I think she is so bored with the run of the mill kiddy songs and Musini is anything BUT run of the mill.
Neurosmith THREE CHEERS for perking up my oh so complacent daughter! She LOVES the toy! Thank you so much for putting a glow in my heart when I see the smile on her face. :)
Now then...more cartridges for Musini please!

This toy is absolutely addictive -- for all ages. We got it as a gift for our 4-year-old daughter, and she loves it. It's a great way for her to "go wild" in a small space! But our 11-month-old likes it just as much. She bops to the music and pushes the buttons. Did I mention the grownups? We play with it to, seeing what combinations of music we can produce. The possibilities seem limitless.

LeapPad Plus Writing by Imaginarium
ages 4-7 years

Comments:

There is so much to do with this Leappad System. I gave it to my 5 year old and he won't put it down. There are so many activities and you can actually write. I am going to buy the extra books as well. This is not a toy, it's a learning experience! I will buy this as a gift for our friends and relatives!

Blue LeapPad Storage Organizer

Comment:

I purchased this to hold my girl's quatum LeapPad. Everything fits perfectly inside. I fnd myself stuffing all sorts of things in it when we travel. It is very handy when going on trips to keep both the LeapPad and maps, lists, directions, etc. If you own a LeapPad product, you need to at least consider this organizer to protect your investment.

My First LeapPad
age 3 and up

Comments:

LeapFrog's range of educational toys is exceptional, and this interactive flipbook really has that "wow" factor. In the box it looks like an innocent book, but once assembled it provides absolutely hours of entertainment with a preschool teaching focus.

Little Touch LeapPad
6 mos - 3 yrs

Comments:

We, like many of you, were REALLY excited to see a LeapPad for little ones and bought it as soon as we could, with extra books. It is an amazing little toy that will grow with our son (now 18 months old).

Imaginext Power Construction Site EXCELLENT

I bought this for my three year old for his birthday. He could not stop playing with it. It's been nearly two weeks, and he has had so much fun with it. My 6 1/2 year old son was so jealous, and luckily his little brother is letting him play with it too now! THere is so much to do with this toy, with endless creative play. My sons are very smart and inventive and have not yet become bored with this toy. It is wonderful. I love that the trucks come apart and you can mix and match the different parts, even making the conveyor belt part of a truck. The little construction guys are great too. My boys very favorite thing about it, beyond all else, is the crane! They have both wanted a toy crane since last Christmas, and this one has not disappointed! You can't go wrong with this. Worth every penny and more.

Rubik's Cube Deluxe Edition

Comment:

Well... I first picked up one of these tricky toys when i was nine or ten, and back then it seemed that only random rotations of the cube could somehow make it all fall together. Nowadays, I've learned that there is SOME order in the world and the Rubik's Cube is a perfect example of it. I love figuring out how to put a color in a certain spot, and putting the whole thing together. Not only do i feel like a genious when it's done, but so does everyone else. It's a great toy, and one can spend a lifetime conquering it, or a day mastering it.

pretty good reviews

Dream Dazzlers Dress Up Trunk with Accessories
3 anad 6 years

Comments:

This all-in-one dress-up trunk provides a deluxe wardrobe for any diva-in-training. There are 32 interchangeable pieces for at least 14 different outfits, more if a child uses their own imagination. Along with variously colored skirts, shirts, tutus, and boas are shoes, gloves, jewelry, purses, and hats--all shimmering, glittering, and satiny. The pretty pink cardboard storage trunk is large enough to hold a child's other dress-up clothes as well, and the rope handle makes it easy to carry or pull. On the trunk is a large poster cover, labeling and illustrating different dress-up looks your child can imitate. Tights and bodysuits are not included. --Diane Beall

The Home Depot - Workman Power Tool Set - Power Sounds

bought this for my son for his 2nd Birthday. He loves to get into Daddy's power tools so this was a great gift! He brings his "tools" out in the garage so he can help Daddy work. They are pull string toys so the noise isn't bad at all. They even sound like real power tools. He loves his power tool set. It's great for kids who like to get into Daddy's tools!! --This review refers to an earlier version of this product. The current version uses batteries instead of a pull string.

BOOKS REAL INTROVERTS LOVED FROM THEIR CHILDHOODS

WHAT IS THE FIRST BOOK YOU REMEMBER READING? | WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK FROM CHILDHOOD?
WHAT BOOKS WOULD YOU ESPECIALLY RECOMMEND FOR CHILDREN?

These are books taken from my BOOK SURVEY. Please feel free to contribute.
TAKE THE BOOK SURVEY YOURSELF

WHAT IS THE FIRST BOOK YOU REMEMBER READING?

1. What was the one with Dick, Jane and Spot?

2. A big book all by myself that I remember reading one weekend was A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Children's books I remember are something about a mouse on a frosted cake, Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham and The Pokey Puppy. Richard Scarry's nursery rhymes were also favorites. “Dr. Fell” brought particular fear.

3. I can't really recall. Oh, my aunt read us this awful book called "Jerry and the Rose Colored Cat" (stupid). Also all the books my father read us, The Boys' King Arthur, Just So Stories, some Mother Goose, Grimm's Fairy Tales.

4. The Wizard of Oz, given to me on my eighth Christmas, by my Aunt

5. Harriet the spy, Ramona the Pest, something like that

6. n/a

7. Heidi

8. don't remember

9. Lassie

10. Some picture book about geological and evolutionary history presented as a stage play.

11. The Blue Palace

12. matilda

13. Dick and Jane. I loved Baby Sally. I wanted a cat. I did not ever want a dog.

14. It would be something from the Nancy Drew series

15. Don't remember that far back

16. ranger rick

17. Boswell's Life Of Boswell

18. Dick and Jane and Go, Dick, Go

19. N/A

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK FROM CHILDHOOD?

1. Trixie Belden mysteries, Black Beauty, The Black Stallion, Witch of Blackbird Creek

2. n/a

3. I liked Nancy Drew. But I was frustrated with children's literature. As soon as my reading skills got good enough I hid novels under the covers and read at night and didn't want to stop to go to school the next day. I read a huge book called The Tontine in jr. high that I just loved. These people in historical times had a pool on who was going to die the last and of course toward the end it got very exciting. I also read and loved The Three Mustketeers by Alexander Dumas. In the summer at my grandmother's house she had a huge library that we could browse. As I look back on it, they were all Victorian type of books, but I didn't know the idfference. Every once in awhile she would take one away that I wasn't supposed to be reading. I didn't know the difference there either.

4. Grimm's and Anderson's Fairy Tales.

5. Little Men, Little Britches, A day no pigs would die, To Kill a Mockingbird

6. n/a

7. Classics like Heidi, Little Women, Gulliver's Travels, Swiss Family Robinson, Anne of Green Gables...

8. Enid blytons

9. Nancy Drew

10. Swallows and Amazons, Chronicles of Narnia

11. Heidi, Black Beauty

12. Rahl dahl stories , james and the giant peach etc

13. Historical fiction. The Twins series - the Eskimo Twins, the Brazilian Twins, Nancy Drew.

14. Young adult series - Anne of Green Gables, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, the Dana Girls. Little Women. Going a bit further back, Cinderella.

15. Anything by Dr. Seuss

16. Tom Swift, Hardy Boys

17. Anne of Green Gables, the Little House books

18. Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys

19. I don't remember much of my childhood that wasn't tramatic.

20. Biographies, psychology

21. Dominic, by William Steig, The Chronicles of Narnia

22. The Velveteen Rabbit, anything about animals and nature, Snot Stew, The Boxcar Kids, manga

23. The Bobsey Twins, Nancy Drew (mysteries and whodunits, of course!)

The Bible

Authorized King James Version. Even if a child is not Christian, it is impossible to really understand and appreciate pre-1950 English language literature without a pretty broad familiarity with the Bible. The KJV is particularly useful because such a huge number of quotes from this version turn up in literature. In addition, becoming familiar with the sentence structure of the KJV makes later literature easy to understand. Of course, the Bible is also the word of God and a close knowledge of it may prevent the little darlings from burning in Hell.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull
